In order to maintain your license (LAC/LPC) and your credential as a National Certified Counselor (NCC),  the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners and the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) requires you to maintain a certain number of contact hours (CE) of continuing education during each licensing/certification period.  Please note that while your license (LAC/LPC) has to be renewed every two years, your NCC certification has to be renewed every five years.

As per the regulations of the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, you must complete 40 contact hours of continuing education during a bienniel period to renew your license. I encourage you to refer to section 13:34-15.1 through 13:34-15.7 to read about the regulations on license renewal.  In regards to NBCC requirements for certification renewal, you must complete 100 contact hours of continuing education within the five year certification period.

If you are looking for continuation education to maintain your license/certification, on this page below there are some sources to look into.
